Memory: On the trail of dissemination

From active use to memory, the current European territory bears witness to the dissemination of papermaking technical know-how. Mills, industrial complexes, printing houses… whether operational, preserved as heritage, repurposed, turned into museums, abandoned, in ruins, rehabilitated, or maintained, these traces of the evolution of papermaking processes testify to its rich history. These sites of memory represent a true cultural and identity potential, providing opportunities for various initiatives, events, and activities aimed at preserving the memory of the history of this technical expertise, which profoundly transformed everyday human life.
